Eight volumes bound across three, with continuous pagination from A-M and then N-Z as called for. Title page for volume three is bound in volume two, with amended half title bound at the beginning of volume three. Profusely illustrated throughout with sixty one colour plates, of sixty five, several of which folding. Lacking four plates, including frontispiece of the editor. Also contains vignette illustrations throughout. Illustrated by some of the most well-regarded illustrators of the period, including Harold Furniss, George Cruikshank and W. Munn Andrew. A charming and thorough work, this encyclopaedia covers a wide variety of cooking terminology and ingredients, including detailed recipes for simple and elaborate meals and special occasion foods.
