Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Minus. No Jacket. First Edition. 303, 4 (ads.) 1919. First edition. 4 illustrative plates and 3 fold-out maps - all as called for. Original publisher's blue cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. Errata slip loosely inserted. No inscriptions but a neat former owner's book plate (T. Cairns Smith) is pasted to the front endpaper. Notable spotting to the upper edge - if not significant and notable spotting to the other 2 fore-edges. Some spottting to the margins of the pages, but not in the same way as the fore-edges.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. A decent hardback first edition without a dust jacket, with some light rubbing to the extremities. There is some quite marked foxing to the front and rear endpapers, and to the half title page, but the main contents are clean and the binding is secure. This copy has been inscribed by the author on the title page. Overall, a good hardback first edition, but with some quite severe foxing to the opening and closing pages. Collated and complete. Inscribed by Author(s).
