Original brown cloth with blind decoration, heavily worn and soiled with loss to corners, spine ends and gilt. Joints cracked at head and tail but boards attached. Internally age toned with light foxing throughout, typical for 1863. Text complete and legible including Crimean War section. Title page with light staining as pictured. 1863 first edition. No dust jacket as issued.
