Knowland Was Pu…blisher Of The Oakland Tribune, Served In The State Assembly And Senate, And Then Served In Congress From 1904-1915, But Was Unsuccessful In Seeking U S Senate In 1914, Losing To James D Phelan. In 1932 He Persuaded President Hoover And The Reconstruction Finance Corp To Advance $32 Million For Construction Of The Sf-Oakland Bay Bridge, And Was Active In The Republican Party And Many State And National Commissions.
