Add to basketALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Paperback, 1983). 1983 1st edition thus. 8vo stapled paperback (149 x 210mm). Pp45. B/w photographs, illustrations, maps, bibliography. Yellow and white card covers with cover illustration by Michael Clark. Slight shelf-wear & staples rusty otherwi…se a fine unread copy. This is a British Deer Society Double Volume, that is to say, two booklets bound as one. The first is, Muntjac (Muntiacus reevesii), by Oliver Dansie. The second is, Chinese Water Deer (Hydropotes inermis), by Arnold Cooke and Lynne Farrell. "Wild deer of several species are now easily accessible to every British naturalist: much has been written about them in recent years from the standpoint of the forester and the stalker and we are all indebted to the researches of these pioneers. The British Deer Society has produced these booklets to encourage deer-watching by the uncommitted; each can be purchased and read separately, but the individual authors have concentrated on those aspects of deer ecology most familiar to them. We hope the set gives the general reader an overall picture of a fluid, hopeful situation wherein the enthusiastic amateur can help to elucidate the complex relationship developing between man and deer in today's countryside." Contents include: Muntjac - Description, distribution map, ageing, communication, photographs, fighting, predators, disease, death, habitat, weather, illustrations, food, social behaviour breeding, locomotion, fraying, gouging and scraping, the muntjac year, the future, bibliography. Chinese water deer - Description, sexing and ageing, locomotion, communication and senses, distribution map, fighting, predators, disease, death, photographs, habitat and territory, weather, food, social behaviour, breeding, the year of the Chinese water deer, the future. A separate bibliography is given for each species, whilst two sections are appended: Legislation affecting deer; The British Deer Society. PREVIOUS PRICE GBP 2.95.

paperback. Condition: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton…mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Reginald Jacques was also conductor of the Oxford Orchestra Society from 1930 to 1936. From 1931 to 1960 he was conductor of The Bach Choir in London. In 1936 he founded his own Jacques Orchestra, which he conducted until 1960. In 1954 he was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He died in 1969. John Rutter was born in London in 1945 and studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. His compositions embrace choral, orchestral, and instrumental music, and he has edited or co-edited various choral anthologies, including four Carols for Choirs volumes with Sir David Willcocks and the Oxford Choral Classics series. From 1975 to 1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College, and in 1981 he formed his own choir, the Cambridge Singers. Following war service, he was elected Fellow of King's College, and later became Organist of Salisbury & Worcester Cathedrals, conducting the Three Choirs Festival whilst at Worcester. Willcocks returned to King's College, Cambridge as Director of Music from 1957-1974, with the first collection of his arrangements in the Carols for Choirs series publishing in 1961. He was Director of Music at the Royal College of Music from 1974-1984, died 2015 ; FINE. Book.
