Add to basketHard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. No date given, circa 1935 -1937. Original blue cloth with black lettering. Frontispiece caption states that the present world champion is Dr. Max Euwe, who was the World Chess Champion from 1935 to 1937. A clean very good copy with discreet prior owner name on the front flyleaf. Clean and tight with crisp text. Alexander was an Irish-born British cryptanalyst, chess player, and chess writer. He worked on the German Enigma machine at Bletchley Park during the Second World War, and was later the head of the cryptanalysis division at GCHQ for 25 years. In chess, he was twice British chess champion and earned the title of International Master. Scarce, we find no other copies of this book listed and it apparently pre-dates other books by this author. See photos.
