Designed by Giovanni & Martino Mardersteig. Tissue-guarded frontispiece etching hand-printed at the Officina Bodoni, pencil-signed & -numbered (52/475) by the artist. Text set in Bembo type, printed by the Stamperia Valdonega in Verona, on paper specially made by Cartiere Magnani in Pescia. ppXXIII(1)86(2) with extracts from a few wartime and a large number of post-war speeches and writings on Europe by leaders, founding fathers and other contributors to the cause of European unity. Top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Integral narrow ribbon page marker. Full light tan morocco, spine and front board titled in gilt; moiré endpapers. No dust jacket as issued. One of 475 copies designed and printed by Giovanni and Martino Mardersteig at the Stamperia Valdonega from Bembo type on specially made, thick Cartiere Magnani paper. The etching was hand printed at the Officina Bodoni and signed and numbered by the artist. Title-page and cover device designed by Reynolds Stone.
