Published in 1893, and published posthumously for private circulation this is the first edition of this meticulously sourced family history tracing the Urswick lineage from its medieval roots in northwest England (specifically Lancashire and Yorkshire) to later generations. It covers the family's historic connections to notable locations like the foundation of Furness Abbey. edited and prepared for print by the author's relative, the Rev. William Urwick, M.A., a fellow of the Royal Historical Society. This copy originally belonged to to Dr. Reginald Henry Urwick (1876-1964), a respected medical doctor and world-renowned philatelist (stamp collector) from Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He was the son of William Henry Urwick (the illustrator of the book) The book is printed on quality hand made paper and illustrated with engraved fine art etchings. 8.5 inches tall approx., 222 pages, with double page family trees at rear including the Urwick's of Hanwood, Shelton and Shrewsbury, broom in the parish of Clungunford, Shropshire, etc. Records confirm that Dr. Urwick lived out his later years and passed away at his country home named "Five Acres" in Ford, a small village near Shrewsbury. CONDITION The is a lightened patch to the cloth at the top of the spine, a small brown mark to top edge for front cover, internally light browning to endpapers, else in good condition.
