The gilt is still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. Head and tail of spine very slightly creased, but no bumps and corners sharp. The boards are clean and unmarked. Page block edges also clean. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally also near fine with a neat gift inscription in fountain-pen ink on the front free endpaper (please see scans). Interior pages clean. No foxing. No serious creases or tears - just a couple of top corner tips pf preliminary pages XXIV-XXVI creased and a long light crease to the rear free endpaper (please see scans). ***In a near fine plain printed dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, and retains the original publisher's printed price of 15s. net. The dustwrapper correctly states '4th printing' at the top of the front flap. Extremities of dustwrapper just slightly rubbed and creased, mainly at the top and tail of the spine.
