Folio (28 x 20.3 cm.), original stiff illustrated wrappers. Profusely illustrated in color. New. 259 pp., (2 blank ll.). *** FIRST and ONLY EDITION, soft cover issue. The print run is unjustified. However, we have it on unimpeachable authority that 400 copies were printed, of which 240 were issued in hard cover; 160 in stiff wrappers. This is a superlative catalogue of one of the best exhibitions of manuscripts, early printed books, maps, and bindings ever assembled. It was held at The Grolier Club from September 19 to December 18, 2021. One hundred two items are meticulously catalogued, incorporating significant new scholarship. In addition to Codding and O'Neill, Patrick Lenaghan also contributed descriptions. O'Neill provides an excellent article, "Archer M. Huntington and the Creation of the Library of the Hispanic Society of America" (pp.15-23). There is an extensive bibliography (pp. 239-55), as well as an index of Authors, Titles and Printers (pp. 256-9).***.
