Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. Improved second edition with "more illustrations and a chart of silver dollars," the author acknowledging that "In the first (1936) edition the weakest point was the section on silver coins." Further, "Some dollar-like medallions have been included in the list and shown in… illustrations. Some may care to collect these and some may not." The photos are indeed useful, as are the many translations offered of Chinese inscriptions. We find no warning here about counterfeits, although fakes (including those struck in base metals) now abound -- apparently this was not yet a major concern for collectors in the early stages of the hobby in the 1930s. The final 63 pages comprise a color-coded list or chart of the dynasties of China, with marginal comments placing these reigns in the context of events occurring simultaneously in the Western world. Reduced from $380. Illustrated with B&W photographs, color charts (illustrator).
