Jedediah Smith was the first American to pass through Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The combined diaries of Smith and Rogers in Humboldt and Del Norte is of interest, along with Indian recollections of the Jedediah Smith party of 1828. A map of the principal exploration and fur trade routes to 1831 is also of interest. Fine copy. Under author's name on title page, the following is printed: "Sponsored by the Del Norte County Historical Society". This, the publisher, and place of publication are all at variation to other copies we have seen. ??
