Plein chagrin vert olive, dos à cinq nerfs titré à froid, fermoirs de metal argenté ciselé, double filet doré sur les coupes et les coiffes, bordure intérieure dorée avec signature, tranches dorées, gardes de soie bleue avec innitiales dorées sur la première. (petit manque à un fermoir). Superbe travail d'édition et de reliure publié sous les auspices de l'Abbé Albin, Chamoine de la cathédrale du Mans et illustré par Mouchon, reproduisant les encadrements des livres d'heures imprimés par Pigoucher, Simon Vostre et Kerver de 1497 à 1500. Livre de priére appartenant à Jeanne Thiébaud dont les initiales « J. T. 5 juin 1897 » sont frappées en lettres d'or sur la soie de la première garde et son nom inscrit au dos d'une des 5 cartes conservées dans le livre. Les feuillets vierges reliés au début permettaient de noter une date de communion et de mariage. Le feuillet d'explication in fine indique : « Avec l'Ordinaire de la Messe, page 4 commence la série des gravures marginales. En premier lieu viennent les douze Sibylles admises par la tradition chrétienne et qui prédirent les principaux faits de la vie du Christ. Les sujets du bas représentent les sept sacrements. De la page 48 à la page 74: Naissance de Marie. Mariage de Joseph et de Maris - Vie de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, sa passion, sa mort et sa résurrection. - Mort de la Ste Vierge Assomption de la Ste Vierge. De la page 74 à la page 78, viennent en- suite les trois Vertus Théologales et les quatre Vertus Cardinales. De la page 79 à la page 84, les principales scènes du Jugement dernier. De la page 208 à la page 224, les sujets du bas des pages représentent la Vie de Job. Sa reliure, reliure en chagrin avec fermoir en métal argenté ciselé est signée F. Cornu et Gille, relieurs doreurs à Paris. 2 des 5 cartes-signets sont à système avec décor de dentelle et tissu, représentant une jeune fille en tenue de communion et de mariage. Full olive-green chagrin, five-ribbed spine with cold-engraved titles, chased silver metal clasps, double gilt fillet on edges and headpieces, inner gilt border with signature, gilt edges, blue silk endpapers with gilt innitials on first. (one clasp slightly missing). Superb edition and binding published under the auspices of Abbé Albin, Chamoine of Le Mans Cathedral and illustrated by Mouchon, reproducing the frames of the books of hours printed by Pigoucher, Simon Vostre and Kerver from 1497 to 1500. Prayer book belonging to Jeanne Thiébaud, whose initials "J. T. 5 juin 1897" are stamped in gold letters on the silk of the first endpaper, and whose name is inscribed on the back of one of the 5 cards preserved in the book. The blank sheets bound at the beginning were used to record a date of communion and marriage. The explanatory leaflet in fine indicates: "With the Ordinary of the Mass, page 4 begins the series of marginal engravings. First come the twelve Sibyls, who are accepted by Christian tradition and who foretold the main events in Christ's life. The lower subjects represent the seven sacraments. From page 48 to page 74: Birth of Mary. Marriage of Joseph and Maris - Life of Our Lord Jesus Christ, his passion, death and resurrection. - Death of the Blessed Virgin Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. From page 74 to page 78, the three Theological Virtues and the four Cardinal Virtues follow. From page 79 to page 84, the main scenes of the Last Judgment. From pages 208 to 224, the subjects at the bottom of the pages represent the Life of Job. The binding, in chagrin with a chased silver clasp, is signed F. Cornu et Gille, bookbinders and gilders in Paris. 2 of the 5 card-signets are system-bound with lace and fabric decoration, depicting a young girl in communion and wedding attire.
