Rare 1909 stock certificate by The Carter Motor Car Corporation. More specifically the Cartercar was a relatively short-lived but notable early American car company known for its innovative…friction-drive transmission. Founded by Byron J. Carter, it started in Jackson, Michigan before moving to Detroit and finally settling in Pontiac, Michigan. The Cartercar was eventually acquired by General Motors in 1909, but the company was later dissolved due to poor sales.
