The rare first edition of this collection of dissertation by Johann Carpzov published by his brother Samuel Carpzov. Johann Benedict Carpzov II (1639?1699) was a prominent German Lutheran theologian from Leipzig. A key figure in Lutheran orthodoxy he studied and taught theology at the University of Leipzig, defending traditional Lutheran doctrine against Calvinism and other emerging theological movements.

Erwähnenswert sind die Holzschnittillustrationen zu Siamesischen Zwillingen auf S. 286-289.- Durchgehend, zum Teil stärker gebräunt. Schnitt und Seitenränder stellenweise wasserfleckig.
