Written in prose style with tremendous amount of historical and memorialist anecdotes. On page 89, for example, the entry for "Gus Bundy's Sagehen" opens with "We hesitate to give you this recipe, for these delectable wild fowls are almost as scarce as passenger pigeons, having met with much the same fate. In the golden days of Virginia City they were abundant." or for a contemporary contribution: "Eddie Armanino's Rabbit Polenta. Eddie's done just about everything there is to do in town -- bartending, sheriffing, mending water flumes. Now he's curator of lovely old St. Mary's in the Mountains."(p.88). Book.
