Condition: very good. Fifth edition. Two volumes, complete. Each book bound in Green morocco with gilt titles and raised bands to spine, green speckled edges. 570pp & 624pp. Green marbled endpapers. With small b&w engraved figures in texts throughout. Bookplates of Hugh Perronet Thompson to front pastedowns. The text blocks are very good, largely clean pages with top closed edges darkened. There are a few pencil marginal notes to Vol.2 with two loosely inserted paper sheets of mathematical calculations in neat ink. The covers are clean but with browned spines and margins, with light rubbing to edges. Main fault is that vol.1 has the front internal hinge dessicated and cracked so that front board and spine strip are separated from spine, and the front board is splitting from the spine strip. Vol.2 has the same hinge loosening but holding. Still a Good set. Pictures available.
