Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st ed., 1st printing ; xiv, 428 pages : illustrations ; 24 cm ISBN 9780964461802, 0964461803 OCLC 33954285 ; SIGNED presentation by author on half-title ; "According to popular myth, in 1828 a man named Parks was hunting on a ridge between the Etowah and Chestatee Rivers in north central Georgia when he noticed a peculiar rock lying among the roots of a fallen tree. Upon examination he saw that the quartz was veined with gold. Park's discovery brought thousands of miners flooding into the southern Appalachians seeking their fortunes. By historical happenstance, the land west of the Etowah belonged to the Cherokee Indian Nation. Conflict was inevitable and a chain of events started resulting in the Native American's forced removal to Oklahoma in 1838. Existing within both cultural groups were the Sons of Africa held in a bondage that would push the young Nation into a tragic civil war only a generation latter. This dynamic history forms the basis of Neptune's Account, a hunt for a buried treasure that may or may not exist. This search follows a unique and harrowing path, taking the reader to places and times that can hardly be imagined. Starting with an engraved watch purchased from an eccentric antique dealer in New Orleans and to a diary left by an escaped slave, Neptune Adair, which are in turn linked to a mysterious Cherokee treasure map, the hunt reaches a climactic and unexpected conclusion bringing not only reward but redemption. This is one great tale."--Delway, Goodreads ; FINE/FINE. Signed by Author(s). Book.…
