Started in 1996 as 'Boot', Maximum PC took its current name in September of 1998 - making this the sixth issue ever under that name. And, obviously (see scan), at that time they had a better idea of how to design a cover. One of only a few genre publications to survive as hardcopy (many went online only, usually a death-sentence) to this day (as of this listing date, anyway), Maximum PC provides product reviews, on-topic new assessments, prognostications/previews, useful tips, etc. Some of what's in this issue: 30 Juice-Your-PC Techniques; Katmai 3D CPU Fails; Half-Life (Shooter Game); SGI / Tom Furlong; Removable Storage; Mobile Processors.
