Pictorial Wraps. Condition: Fine. First Thus. Australian Bush Recitations - Collected by Bill Bowyang - No. 3 - (Front Cover Title: On The Track With Bill Bowyang - by Hugh Anderson, with Australian Bush Recitations, Edited by Dawn Anderson - PART THREE). Uncommon collection of Australian bush poetry. No date (Note: RECENT REPRINT, circa 1991). On The Track With Bill Bowyang is complete in six parts. This is PART THREE only. Each part contains its own introduction by Bill Bowyang. From the introduction (for No. 1): "I present this slim booklet to the public, knowing only too well that during recent years there has been an increasing demand for the recitations that were recited in the bush places in the early days. During the past 15 years I have devoted much time to the collecting of these verses, and it has not been an easy task. Some have been found in old scrap books, and others are remembered in a sort of way by old-timers, but their memory is faulty, and the recitations suffer in consequence, still I have included them in this book. There are at least half-a-dozen recitations, written by forgotten bush bards, that are seeing print for the first time". From the introduction (for No. 2): "The splendid reception my last book of Australian bush recitations received has persuaded me to issue another collection of these rare poems, recited in the bush places in the early days". From Australian Dictionary of Biography online: "Alexander Vindex Vennard (1884-1947), journalist, was born in 1884 at Vindex station, near Winton, Queensland. He contributed articles to Cummins & Campbell's Monthly Magazine, and a regular column 'On the Track' for the North Queensland Register, Townsville, for about twenty-five years. He adopted the pseudonym 'Bill Bowyang' after the straps buckled over trousers below the knees. Collecting yarns, ballads and anecdotes about bush life, and gathering contributions from readers, Vennard published, in addition to his column, at least nine booklets of 'bush recitations'". Printed in Australia. Bound in publisher's original orange pictorial wraps. A LIKE NEW very nice clean tight solid softcover copy. Pagination continues consecutively through each part. This part is paginated 169-234pp. Scarce 1991 reprint. SB-1.
