Add to basketCondition: Wie neu. Original Black-and-White Photograph on archival paper. Framed: 31 cm x 36 cm. Image size: 14 cm x 18 cm. Excellent condition, mounted and framed. Signed photographs by Glass are extremely rare ! Philip Morris Glass (born January 31, 1937) is an American composer. He is considered one of the most influential m…usic makers of the late 20th century. His music is also often controversially described as minimal music, along with the work of the other "major minimalists" La Monte Young, Terry Riley and Steve Reich. Glass has distanced himself from the "minimalist" label, describing himself instead as a composer of "music with repetitive structures". Though his early mature music shares much with what is normally called "minimalist", he has since evolved stylistically. Currently, he describes himself as a "classicist", pointing out that he is trained in harmony and counterpoint and studied such composers as Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with Nadia Boulanger. Glass has founded his namesake musical group, Philip Glass Ensemble, with which he still performs on keyboards, as well as operas, musical theatre works, ten symphonies, eleven concertos, solo works, chamber music including string quartets and instrumental sonatas, and film scores. Three of his film scores have been nominated for Academy Awards. (Wikipedia).

Add to basket12mo (leaf dimensions 18 x 11 cm): 2 pp. Twenty-one lines of text, complete and legible. On aged paper with some wear at head. Casting interesting light on the workings of the provincial Victorian booktrade. Kinsman states: 'I will have much pleasure in helping you all that I can in the Bibliography of your County: and as a star…t to begin with I send you 2 dozen of my Catalogues in which there must be many Staffordshire natives as Authors.' He offers to collate books for Simms, or to 'send the Books themselves for your inspection or purchase (that is such as may be still on hand) you returning them at once when collated.' He asks for the catalogues to be returned once finished with, as 'Of some of my Catalogues not sent I have not a single copy left and of some sent I have only these copies.' Simms lost both hands in childhood and learnt to write with a contraption attached to one of the stumps. His 'Bibliotheca Staffordiensis' was published in a limited edition in 1894.

First edition. of 126 deluxe copies (ex. no. 100), with a 14-color silkscreen by Allen Jones, justified, dated and signed in pencil. The David Hockney engraving is… lacking.Allen Jones (United Kingdom, 1937) is a British pop artist renowned for his provocative sculptures, paintings, and lithographs that explore themes of sexuality and the human form. His controversial works, such as 'Hatstand,' 'Table,' and 'Chair,' feature female figures as furniture, challenging societal norms and sparking debates on objectification in art. .Painter and sculptor Allen Jones was a seminal?and controversial?member of the British Pop art movement; he's renowned for highly sexual figurative works that raise questions about the representation and objectification of women. Jones rose to infamy in the 1960s with a series of sculptures that depicted women as furniture, posed for submission and clad in fetishwear. Feminists derided these pieces, yet the female form remained Jones's primary subject. He has made photographs?notably of Kate Moss in a gold breastplate of his design?and stylized oil paintings, watercolors, and prints that reference fashion, dancing, and cabaret. Jones has exhibited in London, Zürich, Hong Kong, Shanghai, St. Louis, and Lisbon. His work sells for millions on the secondary market and belongs in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Stedelijk Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the Nagaoka Museum, among other institutions.Peter Webb is a lecturer in Canadian literature at McGill University. He has published journal and book articles on Sara Jeannette Duncan, Timothy Findley, and Tom Thomson, and is writing a book-length study of war fiction entitled Shattered Lines: War in the Canadian Novel. He is a co-applicant member of the Editing Modernism in Canada (EMiC) research group.
