He was sceptical of the first reports of the enemy's V-weapons programme. He pressed the case for the strategic area bombing of cities. His abiding influence on Churchill stemmed from close personal friendship, as a member of the latter's country-house set. In Churchill's second government, he was given a seat in the cabinet, and later created Viscount Cherwell of Oxford." The second Earl of Birkenhead is a well-known biographer, author of a biography of Rudyard Kipling that was suppressed by the Kipling family for many years, and a biography of Winston Churchill published posthumously. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
