Organ für Jedermann aus dem Volk", nach deren Verbot (1851) im Jahr 1852 die "Volkszeitung" gegründet. "Bernstein verfaßte außerdem zahlreiche naturwissenschaftliche Werke ('Naturwissenschaftliche Volksbücher', 21 Bde., 1855/56). In seinen literarischen Schriften beschäftigte er sich vorwiegend mit dem Judentum, so z. B. in der Novelle 'Mendele Gibbor' (1860)" (DBE).…
