Erste Ausgabe, von einer Wehrmachts-Ausgabe (!) abgesehen, das letzte noch während der Nazi-Zeit in Deutschland erschienene Buch (vgl. Sternfeld/T. 48). Der aus angesehenem jüdischen Haus aus Stuttgart stammende Autor war 1936 mit seine Familie nach Brasilien ins Exil gegangen. "Tarpan" war sein erfolgreichstes Werk, das auch nach dem Krieg noch zwei Neuauflagen erlebte.
