"With Spaces for recording Notable Events and Red-Letter Days." 10 pages are accordingly filled in, in a neat copperplate hand, with the events, travels (Milwaukee, Lake Bluff, Chicago, Brooklyn) and baby gifts of Little Jack. Introduction in the form… of a poem by E. Nesbit, and a poem by George MacDonald. Contains eleven colorful chromolithograph illustrations by Harriett M. Bennett. Not dated, but since the longhand entries recount the First Steps and other accomplishments of a child born in May, 1895, 1894 is a good guess. A very good copy, in color-illustrated boards backed in cloth. Light soil to covers and wear to extremities. Internally near fine, with neat notations in ink. Family names: Pettigrew; Sisson. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Rare original Victorian children's book that is beautifully illustrated by Harriett M. Bennett with several wonderful chromolithographs. The book is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. It is undated but circa about 1885. The covers only have some lig…ht wear. The binding is good and sound. The interior is mostly nice and clean with just a few pages with some mild foxing and some grubby marks (most noticeably the double page illustration titled "Carrying home the Yule Log" which is shown in the photos). Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection. The book measures approximately 9 3/4 inches by 7 3/4 inches. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
