The fascinating story of William Henry "Billy" Dietz who, til age 15 thought he was the natural-born son of a prominent white Rice Lake, Wisconsin family; in point of fact he was a Chippewa Indian. He attended the Carlisle Indian School along with Jim Thorpe and went on to coach college football at Purdue, Washington State, Albright and Louisiana Tech. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012. He also coache dthe NFL's Boston Redskins for two seasons in the 1930s. He adopted the name "Lone Star" as a tribute to his heritage, a heritage that has been called into question. Fine in fine dust jacket.
