Gray cloth strongly mottled with mild staining/soiling; shallow cloth loss at spine heel with adjacent board corners frayed; flaking/rubbing loss to spine's gilt lettering which remains discernable; library shelf notation in white ink below spine center; front board's gilt lettering remains reasonably bright. Front free endpaper removed. Public library red ink stamp on title page; no other institutional marks readily apparent upon a quick perusal. Toning/foxing to interior leaves with moisture staining at margins and some scattered soiling. Binding stressed at a few points but still reasonably firm. Front board notes "Vol. I." which is not included upon the title page; a successive volume was eventually published in 1915.
