Seconde édition rarissime d'un ouvrage livrant une version délirante de la création du monde. La première édition, rarissime elle aussi (tirée à cinquante exemplaires), fut donnée chez A.J. Blocquerst en 1813. Elle a la particularité d'avoir été imprimée à Philadelphie et d'avoir eu pour souscripteur Thomas Jefferson. Pour peu que l'on se plonge dans ce traité on s'apercevra de quel degré de folie il fallait être atteint pour oser, avec de telles théories, écrire au troisième président des États-Unis afin de lui demander son patronage. C'est pourtant ce que fit son auteur avec tout l'aplomb et la bonne foi du monde, dans une lettre datée du 12 janvier 1813 : « Depuis 10 années que je m'occupe de recherches sur la Nature, je suis parvenu à faire une ample moisson de matériaux, en tous genres, lesquels semblent promettre une révolution heureuse dans toutes les branches constituant la philosophie, toute fois qu'ils seront mis au jour par la voie de l'impression [] Ne vous serait-il pas agréable, Monsieur, de me seconder à cet égard ? Dans ce cas, je me ferais une loi de ne rien livrer à la presse que préalablement vous ne l'eussiez honoré de votre approbation ; à cet effet je prendrais la liberté de sousmettre tous mes manuscrits à gout, à cette sagacité que chacun est forcé de reconnaître en vos écrits. » Voir à ce sujet le catalogue des Thomas Jefferson's Libraries, vol. La théorie principale de l'auteur réside dans le fait que la Terre est un uf, produit de la copulation de deux être primitifs qui ,« comme les ftus animaux, a grossi depuis sa naissance. » Le firmament est donc une sorte de concrétion ou de pétrification qui provient des émanations que les astres n'ont pas absorbées, il enserre le monde comme la coquille enserre l'uf. Pour couronner le tout l'auteur affirme que les savants sont des fous ou des charlatans, et que « la Civilisation est un État contre nature l'homme qui pense est un animal dépravé ». Camille Flammarion fustige l'auteur et donne un long résumé de sa pensée au sein d'une consistante note infrapaginale dans ses Mondes imaginaires et les Mondes réels (1865, pp. 551-553). L'ouvrage, qui a peu été vu du fait de sa grande rareté ne semble d'ailleurs avoir été critiqué que pour ses conceptions astronomiques farfelues, mais c'est réduire la pensée de son auteur qui en plus de 400 pages a abordé aussi : l'amour, la mort, la maltraitance animale, les femmes, la morale, le crime, les rêves, la pierre philosophale, les français, les juifs, les sentiments en tous genres, et même les ufs de Pâques !
