Sir William Osler (1849-1919) was one of the founding physicians of Johns Hopkins Hospital, and has been described as the "Father of Modern Medicine." This compact volume presents a collection of his sayings and thoughts on both the practice of medicine and living in the world of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Aphorisms collected by Robert Bennett Bean, M.D. and edited by his son, William Bennett Bean, M.D. --- In full charcoal cloth-covered boards with titling in gilt and black to cover and spine. Volume wrapped in jacket with photographic portrait of Dr. Osler to front panel. --- A clean, tightly-bound copy but with binder's glue bleed-through at endpapers and general age-toning to leaves. Unclipped jacket ($2.50) is rather brittle, with rubbing & light chipping to extremities; in removable archival mylar protector.
