Colour and b/w photographs, map and b/w sketch of the author by Roy Saunders. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. The autobiography of Lorant de Bastyai, reproduced from a previously unpublished manuscript. De Bastyai was a falconer of international renown, firstly in his native Hungary, and later in Britain. In Britain he worked for Peter Scott at the Wildfowl Trust in Slimbridge; as a taxidermist for Rowland Ward and the Newport Museum; and later at the Welsh Mountain Zoo where he introduced flying displays. He was active in the British Falconers' Club, and in 1962 he founded the Welsh Hawking Club. The Foreword by John Buckner is contemporary, presumably written not long before the author's death in 1993. The book carries the date 2013, but was actually launched at the British Falconer's Fair in May 2014. Athough not stated, this is one of only 300 copies printed. .…
