Ludwig Heinrich Jungnicke (illustrator). First Edition of Felix Salten's woodland novel Perri, written by the author of Bambi. Orange cloth boards with decorative black title panel and pale blue stamped accents. Light shelfwear with minor rubbing to front board, otherwise clean and well-preserved. Interior pages bright, crisp, and unmarked, with Jungnickel's charming woodland drawings throughout. Contains a mid-century illustrated bookplate on the front pastedown ("Jack & Jimmy Rees, 2/25/57"). Also includes the original Bobbs-Merrill promotional blurb affixed to the rear endpaper with the printed price of $2.50. A tight, attractive example of this scarce early work by Salten, connecting to the same imaginative natural world as Bambi.
