Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Frank Brangwyn (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition ( 'First published in 1926' on the copyright page). There are forty-six illustrations, twenty-four, including the frontispiece, in color and twenty-two in black and white. All of the illustrations are present and in very good condition. You can see the covers in the photos. They have held up quite nicely. The gilt lettering on the spine is still fairly bright. The spine is toned to a gold-ish color. This is also the case just adjacent to the spine on the rear cover and to a lesser extent there is some toning off the edges of the front cover. The top edge of the spine has a teeny tiny tear. Above the bottom edge of the spine there's a small area of color fading. The cover edges are in solid shape. Each of the cover corners have small spots of rub-through. The top page edge has a dark topstain. It looks good, just one small light spot. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. The book is solidly bound. The junctures between the covers and their end papers are solid. If you bend yourself in such a way as to see from the side you will notice a very thin space at the juncture between the frontispiece and the title page. I went through the pages pretty carefully and found only one other instance of a thin space between two facing pages. In both instances the facing pages are tightly bound from top to bottom. The interior of the book is in very decent shape. There is light foxing on the front inside cover, moderate foxing on the rear inside cover. The half-title page is toned. The title page has a handful or so of tiny spots of foxing. The pages are exceptionally clean. Going through them I didn't find any instances of soiling. There are a few tan spots of foxing just off the top edge of the blank versos of the color illustration pages, and the same is the case just across from them off the top edge of their facing text pages. I didn't see any other foxing anywhere else. I only saw a very small number of light creases. I did come upon a fair number of uncut pages, indicating that the book has gotten very little use. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere.

Condition: Good. First Edition, hardcover. 249 pages. Good, some rubbing and wear on covers and edges, a couple of 'library of' bookplates on front pastedown, browning on endpapers with a minor tear atop the front endpaper, inner binding soft from reading and use, yet overall, still a decent copy, considering the book is 100 years old.
