The Bajaris were true pioneers, with a readiness to set their hands to hard, productive work, Born in Tervola, up near the Arctic Circle, the boys were orphaned early and, one by one, immigrated from Norway, where they had worked on the fishing boats. Erick and his wife Sophie settled in a comfortable log cabin on a farm on the Lake Cokato shore-a farm on a lake meant fish for food and a good water supply. And as "no respectable Finn could live in a wilderness country long without a sauna (steam bath)," Erick built his, close to the lake.
