Back in the day (post WWII) Richard St. Barbe Baker was one of the "Men of the Trees" and here is another book he wrote about the trees and forests of the world. Please find: "Green Glory- The Forests of the World", with sixty-four pages of magnificent photographs to illustrate the book. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket, however, has taken some wear, including the back cover split off the rest at the gutter and other small chips and tears along its edge. The hard covers are generally clean and only slightly bumped. There is some white residue on the back cover where the inside layer of the dust jacket stuck to the board. Inside, there is a bookplate of a former owner (me) but that is the only mark I found in the book (except a tiny check mark at the top of the front endpaper. The interior pages are clean and bright, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Having studied forestry at college, and later international forestry, I was aware of our author here, Richard St. Barbe Baker, who was known as one of the "Men of the Trees", long before the world became so enamored with the green side of our collective environment. I am pleased to offer one of his books (another coming too), titled: "I Planted Trees" by Richard St. Barbe Baker, then Late Assistant Conservator of Forests in Kenya Colony nd the Southern Provinces of Nigeria. The book opens with his portrait as frontispiece (and he even looks the part!). The book is amply illustrated with "forty-six photographs by the Author."
