Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: "For more than a century and a quarter The Illustrated London News has been for lovers of archaeology throughout the world synonymous with the first-hand-first ever reports of the most significant and the richest of archaeological finds." These reports are compiled here by Edward Bacon who for more than thirty years was the Archaeology Editor for the Illustrated London News. This large hard cover book (9 ½ x 12 inches 428 pages) was published by Bobbs-Merrill of Indianapolis dated 1976 and the First U.S. Edition. This book is amply illustrated throughout with both b&w and color illustrations. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some faint edge wear to the dust jacket which never becomes either a tear or a chip. The hard covers are clean and bright and just very slightly bumped. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and many plates are clean and bright throughout. The only blemishes are three tiny stains on the bottom of the leading edge of the pages. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
