Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Light tanning to spine and edges. Water staining to front panel.

Original publisher's green cloth with gilt titles (now faint or partially lost) to the spine. Internally very clean. The text supported by numerous photographic reproductions in b/w. Personalised because this copy comes with a lovely pencil sketch to the rear endpaper - featuring a church in the snow with the caption: 'winter is here 'Best Wishes'. There is a similar ink sketch - possibly from a stencil portraying carol singers outside a house. Cloth boards a little marked. Apart from the loss or the fainting of gilt titles to the spine - a lovely, clean, tight and bright copy.
