A very scarce item. The Barrett Library at the University of Virginia appears to possess a copy of this item, from the collection of Carroll Atwood Wilson. Printed in landscape on one side of a small 4to piece of wove paper. In fair condition, lightly aged, with stab marks along the top edge. From design of the type (printed in letterpress) and condition clearly a nineteenth-century document, and possibly printed by the university itself for distribution during the ceremony. Twenty-nine lines of Latin text, preceded by: 'THE following speech was delivered by the Public Orator at Cambridge on June 17th, 1886, in presenting for the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES, M.D., Emeritus Professor of Anatomy at Harvard College; author of the 'Autocrat of the Breakfast Table,' &c., &c.'.…
