Featuring issues: #101 - #115. War Picture Library was a British 64-page "pocket library" war comic magazine title published by Amalgamated Press/Fleetway. Launched in September, 1958, the War Picture Library was one of the earliest "pocket library" titles, and in particular one of the first to feature stories set during World War II. Uncredited from the start, as were the vast majority of comic books written and drawn in the late 1950s and early 1960s, War Picture Library continued the trend of UK-based comics publishers such as D. C. Thomson and publisher Fleetway in continuing not to credit on-page the names of its creators. Many names and before them, styles, became familiar to UK comics readers, however, and still more names have been documented over recent years. Contributors to War Picture Library included artists and luminaries such as Fred Holmes, Giorgio Trevisan, Harry Farrugia, George Heath, G. R. Parvin, Nevio Zeccara, Annibale Casabianca, F. Solano López, Juan Gonzalez Alacreu, Jose Ortiz, Ramon de la Fuente, Jorge Moliterni, Renzo Calegari, Faruk Geç, Luis Ramos, Gino D'Antonio, Carlos Pino and Hugo Pratt. 64 pages. Unbound. Condition: Near Fine. 12 sepia-toned gelatin silver photographs. Each is 7" x 5". Tiny chip, about fine, accompanied by a mailing envelope from Pictorial Studios in Tacoma to Gino Aurelio, in care of a third party in Brooklyn. Images are mostly of a mass of soldiers in winter clothing on shipboard, apparently the troops…hip USS General M. L. Hersey (there is one image of the ship), probably returning occupation troops from Bremerhaven, Germany. One image has the inked word "Me" and an arrow pointing to one of the soldiers. Two others are of New York Harbor (the Statue of Liberty and the skyline from the water). Aurelio, of Brooklyn, enlisted in late 1945.
