Hardcover. xii, 262, [4] p. Includes index. Foreword by General Charles P. Summerall, Former Chief of Staff, U. S. Army. Lt. -COl. WIles was a professor of English. Lieut. Cook was an Assistant Professors, and Lieut. Trevithick was an Assistant Professor of English. They are all believed to have been associated with the Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, at the time this was written. It was expected that most officers would be expected to write studies, orders, reports and letters and to speak in conference and in public upon military or naval subjects. The essentials of military composition are clarity, orderly arrangement, and brevity. In speaking there must be added facility in vocabularty and in enunciation and in poise. The methods and mechanics of the art and writing have been set forth in this volume. Good. No dust jacket. Signed by previous owner. Cover has some wear and soiling. Second Edition [stated]. Presumed first printing. Signed.
