Bound in green cloth with pictorial cover of tropical plants, lunette of mountains, and gilt title. Blank spine. Ownership stamp to half-title and title pages of Ottlik Ivan Könyvtára. Anton Goering (1836-1905) was a German naturalist, painter, and explorer, known for his travels in Venezuela, beginning in the 1860s. This book combines his scientific acumen and fine artristy. He describes his journey from the tropical Orinoco lowlands to the smow capped Andes, hence the title "from tropical lowlands to the eternal snow.".
