Rare Arkansas community cook book, noted on the title page as a "Second edition published by groups no. 1 and no. 4 of the Women's Auxiliary of St. John's Church." The foreword section suggests a date of 1922, as it prints a pair poems dated 1910 (the likely d…ate of the first edition) and 1922. The text includes a number of southern recipes as well as recipes for Rice a la South Carolina, genuine Mexican chili, Mexican rice, spiced nutmeg melon, cheese fondu, Jeff Davis Pie, and more. The book also prints two chapters of recipes for invalids, a chapter of suggestions for entertaining, and a glossary of unusual spices like curry powder and tarragon. The contributor of each recipe is named, and the book contains local advertisements interspersed throughout. Toning and mild foxing to pages, staining to a few pages, mild staining to covers, chip to upper corner of front wrapper and first couple of leaves.
