Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Photographic portrait illustrations, introduction by John Julius Norwich. Tall 8vo. Fine publisher's decorative green cloth, housed in a fine green slipcase, a beautiful clean copy. William Allingham (1824-1889) himself a poet befriended many of the famous, including Tennyson, Carlyle and Browning, and recorded his encounters here in these well regarded diaries which run from about 1846 until 1883.

First printing. Octavo; hardcover, with gilt spine-title and gilt decorated upper board; 351pp., with a monochrome photographic frontispiece and 15 plates likewise. Some creasing to the first few pages; top corner of upper board bumped; a small dent to the first few pages where an object has been closed within the book; rear pastedown scuffed. Otherwise good to very good in a bumped and lightly stained slipcase. Postage quoted is for a standard format octavo book. Final charges may vary depending on size and weight.
