Original Cloth. Condition: Good. Sindall, Alfred (illustrator). Second Edition. The book is given as having been printed in 1945 which would make it the second edition - first published by OUP in 1943. One curious detail is that the front pastedown has 'Xmas 1943' written on it however. The boards have some bumping to the corners and a little surface discolouration with one tiny dark spot to the spine. Page edges browned with light spotting in places. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown - this was David Emerson, a former GP from Cambridge. Faint Heffer & Sons stamp to the bottom of the front pastedown and there is some browning and spotting to the endpapers. Light spotting to the first and last few pages but the pages are otherwise unmarked. No jacket. Illustrated by Alfred Sindall with a frontispiece in colour.

Tanning and foxing to page edges, tanned to inside covers, small rips to pages 23-28 to fore edge. The binding is firm. The pages appear clean with light tanning. This book has 248 pages. All in all a nice example of this book.

Octavo hardcover (VG-); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage cost.
