Detailed study of the way in which the Welsh orthopaedic surgeon Hugh Owen Thomas [ 1834 - 1891 ] discovered & in…vented his ground breaking techniques for setting fractures & the legacy of his methods on orthopaedics in the early 20th century. Due to his lack of University training or Hospital appointment, Thomas' work went un-acknowledged for many years after his death, however the introduction by the British Army of the Thomas splint, which saved the limbs of many World War One soldiers, brought his work to the fore. 475 grams.
