It was followed by the separate series of plates after paintings, the 'Königlich Bayerischer Gemälde-Sammlung zu München und Schleissheim' in 1817-24. Condition: Fine. ~ Copper engraving, late 17th century, after «Paysage avec Orphée et Eurydice» (ca. 1650) by Nicolas Poussin, oil at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. Size approx. 57cm (22.2in) x 75cm (29.2in). Title at bottom: « Dedié a Louis le Grand Roy de France et de Navarre. Par son tres humble tres Obeissant serviteur et suj…et E. Baudet. Dans ce tableau le Poussin a voulu particulierement représenter la veüe d'un païs délicieux. Mais il y exprime aussy d'une maniere nouvelle le Charme puissant de la voix et de la lyre d'Orphée. Euridice blessée a mort par un Serpent tombe et n'a pas la force de se relever pour s'approcher de son Epoux dont elle entend la voix. D'un autre costé Orphée tout transporté hors de luy mesme en chantant et joüant de sa lyre, ne voit point l'accident funeste qui luy enleve sa chere épouse, parce que deux jeunes nymphes attentives a l'écouter, et plus loin un homme debout proche d'Euridice la cache entierement a ses yeux » - REF: Andresen, A. «Catalogue des graveurs de Poussin», Gazette des Beaux-Arts, vol. 60, 1962, p. 198. ~ In fine condition // We accept PayPal & EU bank transfer in EUROS //.
