Number '292' of only 295 copies published. The BOOK is in Fine unread condition. It is housed in its' original slipcase which is in near Fine condition. The book has been numbered and signed by the author and illustrator to the publisher's official bookplate to the front pastedown, as called for. The frontispiece pocket contains an original copperplate etching of John Arlott by Norman Ackroyd. This has been numbered (292/295) and signed by Norman Ackroyd and run off on his presses. The plate has been destroyed. The book is ' a celebration of cricket, wine, poetry and prose'. It contains eleven of Ackroyd's etchings, accompanied by appropriate pieces of Arlott's prose and poetry. There is the additional commentary by David Rayvern Allen, Arlott's biographer and an old friend of Norman Ackroyd. The books is printed on fine 200gm Zanders Medley Plus Creme paper and is hand bound in British green leather. The book was launched in 2002 at the Fine Art Society. The BOOK and WRAPPER are in near Fine condition. Large 4to., burgundy boards lettered vertically in gilt along backstrip; matching endpapers; in the original unclipped pictorial Wrapper (£25.00) featuring an illustration of Ackroyd's 'Blakeney' (2004); numerous in-text, full and double page watercolours and etchings by Norman Ackroyd. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. First edition, inscribed by the author to the title page : "-for Jill - and John -, His line about you and now if not always, with love, Kevin, March 2013 Cambridge". The recipients were the children's author Jill Paton Walsh and her husband, the author John Rowe Townsend. A series of evocative poems, embodying the ethereal spirit of the Norfolk coast, by this poet, children's author, and translator of Anglo-Saxon. Crossley-Holland is perhaps best known today for his Arthur trilogy (20002003), which won him the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize in 2001. The book is profusely illustrated in colour by Norman Ackroyd, some taken from sketchbooks used on visits to Norfolk between 2003 and 2004. Ackroyd was elected Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 2000, and received a CBE in 2007 for services to Engraving and Printing. A lovely association copy, scarce signed.
