Condition: Very Good. Hardcover book -two volumes. First edition. No date except pencil 1936 below publishers name on second title page. Illustrated in a series of views (steel engravings) taken expressly for this work by W.H. Bartlett, Esq. Two very nice volumes with dark green embossed covers and with gilt decoration to covers and spine. Top and fore-edge gilt. All plates present , mostly with tissue guards. Plates are very clean with only one or two having an odd foxing spot. Bindings tight with light rubbing to corners. Volume II has a short repaired split along top of spine edge with light fraying to top of spine. front endpapers are creased but without tears. No inscriptions. A Very Good two volume set. Pictures available.

Text block edges tipped in gilt. Internally bookplates to front pastedowns; both vols with name and date on reverse of ffeps; illustrated half-title of vol 2 stained and foxed. Undamaged folding map in vol 1. Varying degrees of soiling/foxing to most plates, the tissue guards removed. Vol 1: pp viii + 2, map, 200 + (2) Vol 2: (2) + 6, 163 + (2). For sale in UK only.
