Condition: Good. 1866. 383 pages. No dust jacket. Beige cloth with gilt lettering. Vol. II. Book has been rebound by library, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. …

Three volume set uniformly bound in recent half leather binding with marbled boards. Five raised bands to spine. Title in gilt on black leather patch to compartment two, volume number in gilt to compartment four of each volume. Teg. 8.5ins x 5.75ins. Volume one: [ii], 456pp plus 2pp plates. Covers October 1858 to December 1863. Issues 1 to 34. Initially produced approx quarterly, from January 1863 became monthly. Volume two: [iv], 383pp. Covers period January 1864 to July 1866 in monthly issues. Volume three: [iv], 379pp. Covers period August 1866 to November 1868 in monthly issues. Each volume has an index of subjects, places and names (rerum, locorum, nominum). Browning to a few pages but overall a VG attractive set. Nb Samuel Tymms produced a fourth volume before his death in 1871. The editorship was then taken over by Charles Evelyn-White until 1910.…
