Rosbert received the nickname "Tiger" Joe as a pilot, which he carried with him as a proud statement of his WWII service through to the founding of his restaurant, Flying Tiger Joe's. With a gregarious tone, every recipe reflecting some new adventure, the book's enthusiasm gallops along, apparently blind to the problematic appropriation of Chinese imagery by an American soldier who fought "over the skies of China." Reflecting the American dream of soldiers returning home from war to make a life for themselves and their families, this cookbook is an artifact of the bootstrapping vision open to white suburbia in the postwar era. 9'' x 6''.
