This volume consists of short stories on many adventurous times and places, including a tale of the coast guard, the Knights of Malta, "Infant Criminals," the voyage of an elephant from India, tale of the Wandering Jew, a tale of the plague in Edinburgh, adventures of a Highland officer in the American war, and a great many more tales, including an autobiographical article on Robert Williams' hunting expedition in India (and other stories of India). The Chambers brothers were publishers in Scotland whose work as writers as well as publishers was influential on both sides of the Atlantic. They became one of the biggest publishers in the English language.
